# The Vibe Diff > A free weekly email for vibe coders and AI builders. Only what changed: new models and what they are good at, pricing and rate-limit moves, tool updates worth switching for, open-source releases, and one copyable prompt. The Vibe Diff is a weekly email newsletter (sent Mondays, Eastern Time) by Nicholas Manaris. Every issue has a TL;DR, 5–8 items with sources and a "why it matters to builders" note, one copyable prompt or workflow, and a tool of the week. Claims link to primary sources such as official changelogs, release notes, and launch posts. ## Issues - [#2: DeepSeek Flash lands in Token Pass, OpenAI takes on COBOL, and Claude Code warns before costly resumes](https://the-vibe-diff.vercel.app/issues/002-deepseek-flash-openai-cobol-claude-code-resume) (2026-10-26): Issue #2 (Oct 19–26, 2026): DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 (MIT weights, now in Vercel Token Pass), OpenAI's low-resource language results, Claude Code v2.1.304–306, Vercel WebSockets GA, Tess-4.5-27B, and DeepSeek's Search & Fetch APIs. - [#1: Argon goes GA, two open giants drop, and Claude Code stops burning your cache](https://the-vibe-diff.vercel.app/issues/001-argon-ga-open-giants-claude-code-cache) (2026-10-19): Issue #1 (Oct 12–19, 2026): Gemini 4 Argon GA pricing, Meta Muse Spark Open and Reflection Beam 1.0 open weights, Claude Code idle compaction, Cursor's Origin App Marketplace, Lovable WebMCP, Replit BYOC, and Vercel Token Pass. ## Issue TL;DRs ### #2 (2026-10-26) - DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 is out with MIT-licensed weights, and Vercel added it to Token Pass on Oct 20. The API name `deepseek-flash` now points at it. - OpenAI says GPT-6 Astra hits 87.4% average on a new 20-language benchmark (up from 26.8% for GPT-5.6 Sol), and GPT-6.1 Sol hits 86.6% on COBOL migration at low effort. - Claude Code 2.1.304 warns Pro and Max users before resuming an idle chat would eat a big chunk of the 5-hour limit, and adds `/auto-mode-setup`. - Vercel made WebSockets in Functions generally available, and skipped monorepo deployments no longer count against rate limits. - Tool of the week: DeepSeek's Search & Fetch APIs. They're free through Claude Code and Codex server-side tools until Oct 31. ### #1 (2026-10-19) - Gemini 4 Argon is GA at an intro price of $2/$10 per million tokens until Nov 30, then $4/$20. If you're going to test it, test it now. - Two big open-weight models shipped: Meta's Muse Spark Open (816B/42B active, custom license) and Reflection Beam 1.0 (501B/23B active, Apache 2.0, 81.6% SWE-bench Verified). - Claude Code now compacts long idle sessions before the 1-hour prompt cache expires, and fork subagents are on by default. - Cursor opened the Origin App Marketplace with 20+ integrations. Lovable lets browser agents use your app through WebMCP. Replit is previewing Bring Your Own Cloud. - Tool of the week: Vercel Token Pass, $30/mo for $80 of GLM 5.3 and Kimi K3 credit, no overage. ## FAQ ### What is The Vibe Diff?
